Donate Cookies and Treats to Celebrate Staff

Help us spread some cheer by donating your favorite cookie or treat that you enjoy during this time of year. Drop off donations in the Main Office on Wednesday December 13rd between 8:00 and 4:30. You can signup to donate here

Gift Card Donation Drive for Westwood Staff Holiday Party

Looking for a way to share holiday cheer with Westwood teachers and staff? The PTSA is coordinating a gift card donation drive for the Westwood Staff Holiday Party! Please consider adding a few gift cards to your holiday shopping!

 

Artificial Intelligence - Let’s Talk! 

 

What is ChatGPT? Join us for a detailed discussion and learn how Westwood is working with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the impact it has on students. Westwood faculty Christin Key and Simone Deitch will give us a brief introduction on AI and demonstrate how apps like ChatGPT work in the learning environment. Learn about the benefits of AI and how the uses of AI can be considered cheating. They will also cover Round Rock ISD/Westwood and IB expectations for the use of AI. 

Reflections 2023-24 Update

Thanks to all that submitted to Reflections this year.

The Council level judging/results will be determined the first week of December.

Please provide a hard copy of the art work to be submitted by Nov. 30th for council level judging.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Volunteer Opportunities

 

Legislative Committee of WHS PTSA

Texas requires school districts to educate students about voting and the electoral process and to make voter registration applications available for eligible students. The Legislative Committee of PTSA supports staff in these efforts. We also support statewide initiatives of Texas PTA, such as Rally Day, YES! Student Leadership Summit, and Straight Talk at the Capitol, and local priorities as identified by RRISD Council of PTAs or our campus PTSA.  Interested in volunteering with the Legislative Committee of WHS PTSA?  Email legislativerep@westwoodptsa.org

Clothes Closet

Plea for new underwear donation. 

Dear Westwood Community,

We accept the new, sealed packages of socks and underwear all year long, an initiative to support the RRISD Council of PTA’s' Clothes Closets and provide essential items to students across the district.

What we need:

  • New, sealed packages of socks and underwear .

  • Urgent needed: 

    • Men's boxer briefs in all sizes, especially Large. 

    • Shorts and pants in boys and mens sizes, especially 4T-7 and mens 32-34

  • Running low:

    • Girls socks, size Medium - short and long styles

How to participate:

  1. Drop off the donation items to Westwood front office. PTSA has the collection box ready for donation starting from Sept 27, 2023. 

  2. Or Click on this Amazon link.

  3. Select the items you would like to donate. Please consider donating the items in urgent need and running low category at first.

  4. Your chosen items will be delivered to the Westwood PTSA Clothes Closet Collection Center.

  5. A PTSA Clothes Closet representative will ensure that your donations reach those in need.

Project Graduation 2024 - Call for volunteers 

Planning has begun. We are still in need of some important leadership roles like secretary, sponsorships chairs, registration and volunteer chairs as we can’t start planning without someone in these spots. 

Many hands make light work AND the 2023 parent team is leaving us in GREAT shape with guidance and templates for our use.
